It is the oldest historical re-enactment of the province of Ancona and commemorates the victory of the Corinaldesi in 1517 against the army of the ousted Duke of Urbino, Francesco Maria I della Rovere who, for twenty days, had unsuccessfully besieged the fortress of Corinaldo. A step back in time to immerse yourself in the extraordinary age of the Renaissance. The event celebrates the famous Well that ensured water supplies during the siege by the Duke of Urbino. One legend tells that a peasant, climbing the stairs, leaned against the edge of the well a sack of corn flour. The sack fell on the inside and flour mingled with water: so it was that the inhabitants of Corinaldo made the polenta into the well. During the days of the contest of polenta it is possible to relive the atmosphere of the Renaissance through local taverns with the cuisine of a time, the market of the artisans and ancient works, the space of the play, not only dedicated to children, with the games of the past.
